Participation of the Provincial Council of Tetouan in the Regional Seminar for Water Week
As part of the celebration of World Water Day, the Association of Life and Earth Sciences Teachers, in partnership with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports and the Loukkos Water Basin Agency, organized a regional seminar in the city of Tetouan under the theme “Mobilization Continues for Our Water Resources.”
During the seminar, Mr. Mustapha Tamsatass, Head of the Administrative and Legal Affairs Department at the Council, delivered a speech on behalf of the President of the Provincial Council of Tetouan. In his address, he emphasized the importance of preserving water resources, particularly in light of climate change and its impact on both the quality and quantity of water.
He noted that although the province of Tetouan does not suffer significantly from water scarcity, it continues to face growing challenges due to climate change and the rising demand for water.
Mr. Tamsatass called for strengthening collective mobilization through awareness programs targeting different groups, especially within educational institutions, while stressing the importance of rationalizing water consumption. He also underlined the need to improve water network infrastructure and adopt innovative technologies such as drip irrigation systems, in addition to encouraging responsible behavior in household water use.
At the end of his speech, he praised the efforts made by local partners, including environmental associations and educational institutions, and called for stronger collective awareness and joint action to ensure the sustainability of water resources for future generations.
